How it all began
So how did it come to the creation of a fund, based on a company selling CBD oil online? To answer this question, we have to go back in time and tell the story of the founder and CEO of Endoca, Henry Vincenty.
Back in 2003, Henry was studying Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Copenhagen, and travelling in Africa to help increase the lifespan of people in the Zulu region suffering from AIDS. On this expedition, Henry found that the medicine provided to the patients only made their situation worse, because of its inefficiency and the many side effects to the medicine.
Searching for alternative medicine
This took Henry on a journey. He started looking for alternatives that could restore the immune system without side effects. He then discovered that nutrition was the key and that an intense vitamin and mineral regime could help people to live normal lives.
At the same time, there were people marching the streets in the U.S. and some of them were carrying signs that the cannabis plant helped them to overcome AIDS. Henry looked up all published articles about the subject and found over 5000 articles about the endocannabinoid system, but professors and neurologists he talked with did not know anything about the subject.
This sparked Henry’s interest even more. How come one of the most important systems in the body that regulates the immune system is not thought about in the medical universities, even though there are huge amounts of literature?
Henry decided to apply for a license to do research on hemp just to see how it grows and start investigating different cannabinoids. He did a lot of research and became aware that other cannabinoids that are non-psychoactive are even more promising than the ones containing the psychoactive THC.
A clinic of natural medicine
Henry chose the cannabinoid CBD, as this cannabinoid showed a lot of potential on epilepsy patients in a study done in 1982. With the expensive knowledge in genetics and natural medicine, Henry decided to open a clinic in Denmark which was free of charge. The main idea was to start a debate and push the media to talk about solutions that could save human lives.
The main focus of the clinic was lifestyle medicine and to teach patients how to use natural medicine together with the drugs they were dependent on. In some cases, even how to replace drugs with natural herbs.
The start of Endoca
The interest and demand for Henry’s product quickly grew, partly because Henry’s website was the only one describing CBD and hemp in Denmark at the time. Henry decided to start his own company, Endoca, which is the short name for the endocannabinoid system from which CBD is extracted from.
Henry's website was the first in the world to cell CBD online. The profits were used to grow hemp and to build a high tech lab, in order to provide the highest quality product, and the rest is, as you say, history.
Endoca and its CBD oil is available in most parts of the world today, and what initially started as a mission to help others is now well on its way, as Endoca is striving towards the goal that all homes in the world by 2030 will have CBD available, just like salt and garlic.
Endoca Foundation is founded on these same principles of making a difference and helping those in need. Henry’s own philosophy of “do what you can with what you have” very well illustrates this. We have to ask ourselves, why do we do what we do? What impact does my daily choice have on the global picture?
